GyPSI on Board

ACR GyPSI 406 personal locator beacon with GPS interface | $700
Print This Article   |   Email This Article

Having a personal locator beacon is a good idea for any boater, but ACR’s newest beacon, the GyPSI 406 with GPS (there is also a GyPSI model available without a GPS interface) received approval from the FCC recently and is now available.

Upon activation, the 406 sends a signal to two separate satellite systems and is relayed to a ground center, where the signal can be traced to the owner of the beacon. The GPS capabilities of the 406 allow its exact coordinates to be detected quickly.

The GyPSI works in temperatures as cold as -40 degrees Fahrenheit, is waterproof and buoyant.
