Dinghy Excursion Incident

by Lenny Rudow
I was out for an excursion in my dinghy, and when I backed into a muddy bank my outboard stalled, and I couldn`t get it restarted for an hour. Eventually it ran fine, but I`m worried I damaged something. What should I check to make sure all`s well?

As long as it starts now and the prop wasn`t damaged, don`t worry for a second. In all likelihood it wouldn`t restart because the hub was still in the mud. While turning the motor you built up back pressure and the exhaust gasses couldn`t escape. I`ve had the same problem before, only to discover that once the hub was properly exposed, the engine started just fine.
