Easy Fender Adjuster

Setting up your fenders for docks and piers of varying heights can be a headache, especially with guests aboard who don't know how to tie the proper knots in the fender line.

One Grand Banks owner solved this problem with several cam cleats mounted on the top of the teak gunwale. They make the adjustment process quick and guess-proof.

Since each boat has a particular area that rubs against a dock, you'll know where to best position them for your boat -- but you'll probably find that one at the widest point of the boat, one in the flat aft section and one between those two will serve most of your needs.

You can find a variety of cam cleats at any marine hardware store. You may also want to add a small piece of half-round anodized aluminum molding, to keep the fender line from chafing the finish.
